With a classic, rounded pot profile that sits slightly lower and wider than the Studio Planter, the Terra Cotta Basic Planter suits plants that spread as much as they grow. Hand-thrown in collaboration with artisans in Sabanagrande, Honduras and designed by Bloomist, it is finished in a deep grey patina with streaks of mossy green.

Each piece has its own pattern of tone and texture as a natural result of individual hand-finishing, with the Bloomist mark stamped into one side.

Can Terra Cotta Planters Be Used Outdoors?

Yes. Terra cotta is porous by nature, which makes it well-suited to outdoor conditions. The clay breathes, soil drains freely, and plants that prefer balanced moisture do well in it. A drainage hole is built into the base of every size. In cold climates, bring planters indoors through winter to protect the clay from frost damage.

The size range, Small through XXX-Large, moves easily from a kitchen counter herb to a large statement plant anchoring a room. Smaller sizes suit rosemary, succulents, and compact foliage. Larger sizes give deep-rooted plants like philodendrons, heathers, and hellebores room to establish properly.
